;)
in the meantime, as promised before, i've snuck into the vault and borrowed some more images to share here. i figured i'd be generous and share with you some color without dialogue this time. not too much of course. i don't wanna give it all away. ;)

Very nice Mike; thanks so much for sharing.

... I love the expressions very much. Do you use the old trick animators used to do, which was to make faces into a mirror and try to draw that for the character? BTW how many comic book stories do you have plotted out in advance? Thanks

Oh... I forgot to ask you. When you ink your pencils, what are the different types of ways you ink your work? Do you only use pens, or do you use brushes, and what kind of brushes? I'd like to know, because I draw cartoons. Thanks once again.

Very cool! And as a newb can you tell me what ROE stands for? Thanks a ton!

RoE stands for Rock of Eternity, where the mighty wizard Shazam lives.

hey everyone,
so glad you like it!
little john thanks for stopping by!
hey mdtk, i very much enjoy sharing the book with everyone.
yes, Chris, ROE stands for the Rock of Eternity. thanks for the cool help, rob!
and rob, thanks for the questions. lemme try and answer some . . .
yes, i totally look in the mirror for expressions. it comes from my days of being a feature animation animator. it really helps to see the expression. also, i've got up to a year's worth of springboard/plots for Captain Marvel. of course, plotted out and completely written/drawn/inked/and colored are two different things. ;) but i'm definitely ahead on the story ideas. i'm having the best time with this character. and as far as brushes, i don't normally use them. i use a variety of methods for finishing my drawings. sometimes i do a lot of it digitally for speed and control. and other times in fact, like for herobear, i actually did my dark blacks with prismacolor black pencil. and then sometimes i'll use india ink pens and brush pens for fun thick and thin.
it's all a hodgepodge of techniques.

okay, enough babbling.
thank you again everyone for stopping by. you are the best fans!

take care and all the best,
m . . .

Thank you Mike I will have to make a note of some of the stuff you wrote as far as inking supplies. I'll take the list into Michael's(wow that's coincidence!!) art store and see if I can find some of the stuff? Thanks I'll let you know how my shopping turned out, and maybe I can send you some of my new inking samples? Until then, Tah-Taaa! Rob C.

Great work. Keep it up. I had a such a good time with the first issue. Can't wait for the second. Is Billy Batson now going to be on a bi-monthly schedule now???

Hey thanks Mike, btw, I found some Pigma black brush pens through Amazon. So when I can scrape a little money together, I will be getting some. Once I do, maybe I can give you an example of my own cartoon Captain Marvel? Thanks so much for the(brush) tips. :D.... Rob C.

I discovered Herobear thanks to FCDay, and the artwork struck me as fun. The stuff you keep throwing out for BBatMoS continues to just make me smile.

Some heroes, I want to be mature and hardline. Captain America, Nightwing, heck, even Alan Scott and the JSA. Some, though, need to stay true for me. That's your take on Billy. Thanks man.

Can't wait, Mike! Thanks for the previews!

Hey, and just to "trade ya back", click HERE for my take on how the wizard SHAZAM consolidated all of that godly power. Hint: It's not as glamorous as we all assume it was.

Hey Mike I hope your New York City trip went well? Looking forward to hearing from you, how it went. I finally got the pen brushes. I had to travel via bus and light-rail for a distance of 10 miles, then I had to walk an additional 5 miles just to find the right art store that had them. So I got a set of four. I played with them for about a day. I told you I was going to post an example of my work using the new pen brushes. So here is an example of Captain Marvel done with a pen-brush, w/ the pencil marks showing.

Now I'll show you the finished product....

Thanks so much Mike, Even after all this time I'm still learning. You've been a wonderful help. I will be picking up the next issue tomorrow. I look forward to reading it. It seems I cannot post the images here in your blog? Let me know if there is another way? Thanks again.... Rob C.
